The institute's shares are on the rise in Piazza Affari, rewarded once again by the rumors about the imminent creation of a bad bank into which problem loans will flow.

Borsa, Intesa rises on bad bank rumors

Another positive day in Piazza Affari for the Intesa Sanpaolo stock, which in the middle of the morning gained more than two percentage points, scoring one of the best increases in the Ftse Mib.

To reward the institution's actions are still the rumors about the imminent creation of a bad bank into which the problematic credits will flow. The news, launched over the weekend by the Financial Times, was reported in Italy - even if for now no confirmation has come from the Bank -, explaining that the project could be presented with the business plan at the end of March.

The plan of the institution led by Carlo Messina could start with more contained objectives and above all concern impaired loans in the real estate sector, which the crisis in the sector has made problematic for all the main Italian banks.

According to the press, several Italian banks are studying the sale of non-performing loans, including Bper, which has started discussions for the sale of a package of mortgages for 200-240 million, Banco Popolare for 4 billion and Unipol Banca for 600 million.

Meanwhile, MPS has sold 1,7 billion fifths of its salary in recent weeks and Unicredit yesterday announced the sale of 700 million in non-performing loans.

According to Intermonte analysts, any disposals of problem loans represent "positive news as they would free up capital (assuming the loans are adequately covered) and liquidity to make new loans".
