Stock market, Indesit collapses: the Merloni family does not sell

Nightmare day in Piazza Affari for the Indesit stock, which at the end of the morning was in the red by more than six and a half points. The speculative appeal on stocks has waned since yesterday Maria Paola Merloni has denied the rumors that appeared in recent days in some newspapers, stating that there is no disagreement among family members and that the company will not be put up for sale.

"On my part, there is no intention to sell Indesit", said Maria Paola, adding that "even if there were, and there isn't, mine is only a minority shareholding and I cannot impose my decisions on others".

According to some press outlets, Maria Paola, a shareholder with her brothers in the holding company that controls Indesit, would have liked to hand over control of the company to a foreign competitor, an idea opposed by other members of the family.

"There is no disagreement, there is complete harmony between us brothers", added Maria Paola, specifying that the majority list for the renewal of the top management will be presented by Fineldo, the family holding company where all the brothers sit on the Board .
