In Piazza Affari the spotlights are on Finmeccanica and its subsidiary Ansaldo STS, which shine with increases of more than 1%. The interest of the French company Thales in Ansaldo Sts and Ansaldo Breda has pushed the listings of the two shares.
According to Corriere della Sera, the transalpine company, which has always been interested in Ansaldo STS, is now willing to buy Ansaldo Breda as well in order to close the deal.
However, the French are not the only possible buyers for the two Finmeccnica subsidiaries. Also competing for Ansaldo Sts and Ansaldo Breda are the Chinese companies China Cnr and Insigma, which within two or three weeks will have to decide whether to submit a formal offer.
