Borsa, Fiat runs after the assembly

Fiat runs to Piazza Affari. After +1,61% in the last session, today in the mid-morning the Lingotto stock is up by almost five points, among the best stocks of the Ftse Mib. The wave of purchases comes 24 hours after the last shareholders' meeting, during which the managing director Sergio Marchionne announced that "the objectives for 2012 have all been met or exceeded" and that there will be no capital increase .

According to a note released by Mediobanca, Fiat could consider strengthening its capital through the sale of assets: "We believe that the sale of Magneti Marelli is difficult: the captive business and the auto components business are not in good shape and the only buyer could offer such a low price that Fiat will not accept – reads the note from Mediobanca -. So we find ourselves with Ferrari and Alfa. Between the two brands, we would prefer Alfa to be sold at a high price to a non-European player. Time will tell. According to Marchionne this is a theme to be treated not before 2014 or even in 2015”.

Marchionne also confirmed that the merger with Chrysler is inevitable and should take place within 2014. Furthermore, the manager has ensured that the group has sufficient liquidity to purchase the share of the Veba fund in the Detroit company.
