From next April 8, the electricity bill will drop by 5,7%, while for gas the reduction will be 2018%. The decrease – forecast in the latest update of the reference economic conditions for households and small consumers under protection for the second quarter of XNUMX – is determined by the drop in prices on the wholesale markets and is also influenced by the expected seasonal nature of electricity consumption and gas.
In particular, the decline in electricity is essentially linked to the trend in wholesale prices, estimated to decrease for the second quarter of 2018 (the Single National Price is around -14% compared to the average for the first quarter of 2018). Also for gas, the next spring season, with consumption and prices decreasing at European level, implies - as expected - the drop in prices also in the Italian wholesale markets.
