Bioterra takes off and chooses Fulgoni as CEO: now the industrial holding of Basilico and Cagnin is looking for a target company

On March XNUMXst the curtain went up bioterra, the vertical industrial holding founded by Paul Basil (one of the most brilliant Italian financiers and former founder of Kairos who has now discovered a passion for the industry) and Giampaolo Cagnin (great expert in the food industry and former founder of Hi-Food). The start-up of Bioterra, which will operate in advanced cosmetics, nutraceuticals and specialty foods, with an initial capital of 100 million euros of which Basilico and Cagnin hold control, coincided with the choice of the first Chief Executive Officer, who is Federico Fulgoni (formerly CEO of Nuktao Group and Campus Group) who also becomes a shareholder of the new holding. But the first days of life of Bioterra, which is based in the central via Manzoni in Milan, also marked the arrival of another excellent new entry in the person of Gian Carlo Liberty, well known in the Private Equity world having worked in Apax and Mediobanca, who becomes a shareholder of the vertical holding and enters the Investment Management Committee.

BIOTERRA HOLDING: FIRST OBJECTIVE TO IDENTIFY AND INVEST IN TARGET COMPANIEST

Bioterra's first task is now to identify one or more target companies that will become the group's industrial vehicle: the selection will begin soon and the goal is to complete the investment within the year with an acquisition that can reach 30-40 million in value. The growth of sensitivity for the quality of nutrition and well-being and the current fragmentation of the Italian cosmetics, cosmeceutical and nutraceutical market, full of medium-small companies that often have to deal with the problems of generational transition, can offer interesting opportunities which Bioterra aims to capture thanks to a top-quality shareholding and management.

The companies in which Bioterra intends to invest have a turnover of between 10 and 25 million euros and an EBITDA between 3 and 6 million, operate in the Specialties sector, excluding mass products, commodities & trading and raw materials, and have growth potential unexpressed and the flexibility necessary to be part of industrial poles. The first news will come soon.
