Sustainability report: the year of A2A's consolidation confirms its role and responsibility

A new company document confirms - through a series of numbers and facts - the constant commitment of the A2A Group in the field of environmental, economic and social responsibility.

The Sustainability Report of the largest Italian multi-utility has reached its sixth edition this year and includes for the first time the activities of Edipower, whose integration into the Group led A2A to become the second national electricity operator in 2013: Edipower boasts a decade of commitment to sustainability reporting, based on the same principles and values of transparency and responsibility towards stakeholders that drive A2A.

The organizational integration of Edipower and the establishment of A2A Ambiente, which now brings together the activities and assets of the entire environmental chain of the A2A Group, were among the most significant events of 2013: a year which, despite the continuing difficulties of the national and global economic system, has not failed to give positive results to the A2A Group, confirming the validity of its industrial model.

A2A has been able to maintain its ability to create and distribute value to shareholders and all stakeholders, achieving already in the first year important medium-term objectives set by the 2013-2015 Economic and Financial Plan.

An important novelty characterizes this year's edition of the Sustainability Report: in a period in which issues such as employment, health and the environment have often become vital for the reference communities, A2A has been able to further refine the own ability to read and interpret the expectations of its stakeholders, initiating a process to increasingly identify the "material" issues, i.e. the aspects considered most relevant, both by the Group and by the stakeholders themselves, in terms of sustainability.

The result of this analysis is the materiality matrix included for the first time in the Sustainability Report.
2013 was a year which saw the A2A Group further strengthen itself from an economic, financial and equity point of view and which recorded tangible progress as regards the company's role and commitments in terms of social and environmental responsibility: important results, which are based on a positive relationship with the stakeholders and which are substantiated in the right balance between economic growth, social demands and environmental protection.

The 2013 Sustainability Report of the A2A Group can be consulted on the website www.a2a.eu in Italian and English.
