€265,456 billion in funds were allocated in the main weekly operation, against €247,175 billion over the previous seven days – the highest figure since June 2009.

While interbank loans become more and more engulfed, requests for money from the ECB by European lenders continue to grow. In particular, short-term refinancing and seven-day loans they went up to highest for about two and a half years.

From the Eurotower they let it be known that they have allocated funds for 265,456 billion euros in the main weekly operation, against 247,175 billion in the previous seven days. According to data from the European Central Bank reported by Dow Jones, this is the highest value since June 2009.

In recent days press speculation had been circulating on the possibility that in the face of growing tensions linked to the debt crisis, the ECB could decide to launch new extraordinary refinancing operations on even longer maturities than the current ones, even going so far as to grant multi-year refinancing.
