Banco Bpm: 13 million loan to Cogenaest

The operation will be used to finance the construction of biodigestion plants in an anaerobic environment for the production of advanced biomethane

Banco Bpm has granted a loan of 13 million euros to Cogenaest, a company controlled by the Iniziative Biometano Spa holding company headed by a group of entrepreneurs from the Veneto region, engaged in a large project to build biomethane plants throughout the country. The loan will be used to build a biodigestion plant in an anaerobic environment for the production of advanced biomethane to be used in the automotive sector.

The operation is structured as follows: a senior line of 10 million will be disbursed according to the progress of the works at the Cogenest construction site in Villabartolomea; the remainder will be used to finance the needs of the first period of activity. According to forecasts, the plant should enter into operation in the first months of 2021.

"The intervention is part of Banco Bpm's broader operations in relation to sustainability issues, which has recently expanded with the establishment of a ceiling for a total amount of 5 billion euro", explains the bank in a note.

“The loan in favor of the Iniziative Biometano group – comments Enrico Lemmo, head of Banco BPM's North-East Corporate Market – is a concrete example of the commitment and attention that the Bank places in the search for innovative solutions that look at the peculiarities of the business of our customers as well as the support of initiatives linked to the territory and which are part of a scenario of sustainable development for the future, in line with the environmental energy objectives of our country.”
