2-speed banks in Piazza Affari: Mps +10,2%

Mps flies over 10% on the wings of speculation while Intesa and Unicredit retreat together with Telecom Italia and the utilities - Campari, CNH, Buzzi and Finmeccanica go against the trend - Merkel's defeat does not disturb the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, leader in Europe

Starting the week with a plus sign for the main European stock exchanges while Piazza Affari instead slips slightly below par, substantially unchanged, after a weak session. The Ftse Mib closes at -0,03%, Paris rises by 0,31%, London by 0,57%, Frankfurt +1,62%. The weakening of Angela Merkel in Germany, after the regional elections in three German Laender, does not weigh on the German Stock Exchange. The merger talks with the London Stock Exchange should close this week.

The Btp-bund spread narrows by four percentage points to 102 points and yields to 1,31%. In the Eurozone, industrial production turned positive again in January: +2,1% after -0,5% in December. On January 2015 it increased by 2,8%.

On Wall Street, stock markets move in contrast weighed down by the return of oil sales: WTI dropped 4,49% to 36,77 dollars a barrel and Brent 3,17% to 39,11 dollars a barrel.

Iran will not join any production freeze plan until it reaches an output of 4 million barrels per day. Tehran's oil minister, Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said so yesterday. At the close of Europe the Dow Jones rose 0,17% while the S&P500 slipped 0,10%.

The markets, after having benefited from the moves beyond the ECB's expectations, are now waiting for the Fed whose rate meeting is scheduled for Wednesday. During this appointment, the US central bank will also release its periodic update on the outlook for the economy.

The Federal Reserve is preceded by the Bank of Japan meeting tomorrow, from which, however, no news is expected after the historic decision on negative rates at the end of January, and will be followed by the Bank of England meeting Thursday, which is grappling with the Brexit thorn and the devaluation of the pound. The euro-dollar exchange closed down 0,48% at 1,1102.

In Piazza Affari, the decreases are led by A2A -2,81%, followed by Intesa Sanpaolo -2,05%, Azimut -1,2%, Unicredit -1,2%, Snam -0,98%. Bucking, purchases reward Mps which jumps by 10,24% in the wake of press rumors: Prime Minister Matteo Renzi would be trying to convince CDP and Intesa to intervene with a system operation. Mediobanca analysts like the integration and consider it more feasible than the one with Ubi. Campari +5,03%, Buzzi Unicem +3%, Finmeccanica +2,94%, Cnh Industrial +2,9% also stood out on the Fste Mib.
