Banking: signed the final contract

The new national contract for banks has arrived, the final text of which was signed yesterday by Abi and the sector unions, implementing the provisions of the renewal agreement of 31 March 2015 on the National Collective Contract for Workers.

The contract will be valid until 31 December 2018 and will concern 300 workers divided between managerial staff and personnel in the professional areas employed by credit, financial and instrumental companies.

The Italian Banking Association was satisfied, underlining "the centrality of national bargaining" and the enhancement of "industrial relations at company and group level in a decisive phase of the overall reorganization of the sector".

Lando Maria Sileoni, the general secretary of Fabi, the main trade union in the category, also shares the same opinion, according to which the new contract "will guarantee the maintenance of current employment levels" by providing "effective tools for the management of industrial plans and crisis situations concerning in particular some banks”.

Going into detail, seven unions have signed the contract: Fabi, First-Cisl, Fisac-Cgil, Sinfub, Ugl-credito, Ulica and Unisin. The provision provides for a gross increase in payroll of 85 euros for workers, while the basic salary for young people has been set at 1.970 euros, 200 euros more than the remuneration provided for in the old contract.

Once the text has been secured, priority will now be given to the definition of a new code of ethics "which eliminates commercial pressure for the sale of financial products - continues Sileoni -, which protects customers and guarantees tranquility in the daily work of bankers.
