Banca Ifis strengthens its collaboration with the Veneto Institute of Molecular Medicine. Started in October 2020 with the support of the "Adopt a Researcher" initiative of the Foundation for Advanced Biomedical Research Onlus - in particular with the provision of funding to support the work of researchers of the Pathobiology Laboratory of Direct Lymphomas and Myeloma by prof. Francesco Piazza, also confirmed in 2021 - the collaboration extends and expands with the funding of research against the prostate cancer, conducted by the laboratory of Group Leader VIMM prof. Andrea Alimonti.
Prof. Alimonti, professor of Pharmacology at the University of Padua, of Experimental and Translational Oncology at ETH Zurich and of Oncology at the Università della Svizzera italiana, is an oncologist known for his studies on the mechanisms that regulate tumor senescence and the identification of new therapies for the treatment of prostate cancer.
Thanks to the research conducted at VIMM, prof. Alimonti has achieved some fundamental results in the fight against prostate cancer, also in relation to Covid-19, published in the most important international scientific journals such as Science, Annals of Oncology, Cancer Cell, etc. and now aims, together with the researchers of his laboratory, to identify possible innovative pharmacological approaches.
The issue of health is also at the center of the recent Banca Ifis project "La Nuvola della Salute" dedicated to the prevention of its employees. The program, which will be enriched with new content, already includes webinars with professors and medical specialists and the monthly digital column "Ifis PreveniAMO".
The goal - reads a note from the banking institution - is to activate continuous monitoring and facilitate the understanding of symptoms and signs but above all to offer ideas for healthy and correct management of daily life, raising public awareness of the importance of prevention.
