Banca Generali: no to Finecobank, for now

“The UniCredit online banking dossier is not on the table” declared Gian Maria Mossa putting an end to weeks of indiscretions and rumors – Banca Generali has no extraordinary operations in the pipeline.

Banca Generali: no to Finecobank, for now

Banca Generali has no interest in Fineco, the multi-channel bank that the Unicredit group could put up for sale to contain the capital increase that will be launched in the coming months. A deal worth 1,73 billion euros.

The general manager Gian Maria Mossa put an end to the rumors circulated in recent weeks, who in an interview with Il Sole 24 Ore did not mince words: "The UniCredit online banking dossier is not on the table", he said the manager.

As regards the pressures that have recently hit the stock on Piazza Affari, Mossa interprets the ups and downs of Banca Generali shares as follows: "The market probably discounts the possibility that we can buy something at a high price".

“It is not like that” – he continued – “We have not given a formal mandate to any investment bank. We are always available for extraordinary operations, but there must be the right business, at the right price and beyond the various rumors, I repeat that today there is no extraordinary operation around the corner”. Not a definitive no therefore, but the assessments could change if the conditions of sale were changed.

On Piazza Affari, Banca Generali shares are currently losing 0,1% after a positive start in which the shares reached +1,52%. -0,56% for Unicredit, while the Finecobank share lost almost 1%.
