Company Description

Vodafone Group is a British fixed and mobile telecommunications company. It is based in London.
Vodafone is one of the main operators in the sector and among the global market leaders.

It operates and owns networks in 22 countries and through partnership agreements is active in 42 other countries; with fixed network services it is present in 17 markets.

The division Vodafone Global Enterprise provides telecommunications and IT services to corporate customers in 150 countries.

It operates mainly in Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania. Most of the activity takes place in Germany and the UK.

Its customers are around 362 million worldwide. It has 93.000 employees.

Vodafone has its primary listing at London Stock Exchange and is also part of the FTSE 100 Index. It has a secondary listing at Nasdaq.

Vodafone was founded in 1984 as a subsidiary of Racal Electronics Plc from which he broke away in 1991, when he began to operate independently; born like this Vodafone Group Plc.

On 30 June 1999 Vodafone joins the American company AirTouch Communications Inc. giving birth to Vodafone AirTouch Plc.

In 2000 he acquired the German company Mannessman and the mobile operator D2. Vodafone Group Plc name is restored.

In the following years Vodafone expanded its worldwide network, acquiring mobile operators and through shareholdings around the world. In Italy it acquired the operator in 2002 Omnitel.

In October 2007 he buys Tele2 Italy e Tele2 Spain for a cost of 775 million euros.

Acquired in 2014 the Cobra Automotive Technologies, Italian company, renamed Vodafone Automotive, which deals with the design and production of electronic devices for vehicle safety and for the development of services based on geolocation based on Machine to Machine technologies.

In May 2018 he acquired from the American company Liberty Global the cable telecommunications activities of its subsidiary Unitymedia in Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania for a cost of 18,4 billion euros, making it the largest acquisition of the English company.
