Company Description

Hera SpA (acronym for Holding Energia Risorse Ambiente) is an Italian multi-utility company operating in the electricity and gas production and distribution sector. It also offers environmental services.
It serves 311 municipalities and around 4,3 million citizens in Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Tuscany, Friuli and Veneto.

The head office is in Bologna. It has 9.011 employees.

The largest revenues are generated by the sale of gas (42%) followed by the sale of electricity (29,3%) and waste collection and management (15,1%).

Economic and financial analysis of the company

Hera was born in 2002 from the merger of 11 municipal companies in the Emilia-Romagna area. The objective of this aggregation was to create a single multi-utility to achieve excellence in energy, water, waste collection and treatment services.

In 2007, the merger between Aspes and Megas (Urbino) took place Marche Multiservizi (41,8% held by Hera). SAT SpA is merged by incorporation into Hera.

In July 2008 it acquires Mega Trade, a company operating in the Urbino area and owned by Marche Multiservizi. This operation leads to the creation of Hera Comm Marche.

In June 2021, with the subsidiary Herambiente, acquired 70% of Recycla, Friulian company that manages three platforms for solid and liquid industrial waste with headquarters in Maniago, in the province of Pordenone.

In September 2021 Hera, through the subsidiary Herambiente, acquired 80% of Vallortigara, company that disposes of waste from industries, public administrations and citizens and manages a multifunctional platform for the treatment of special waste in Torrebelvicino (VI). Still in the same month, through its subsidiary EstEnergy, acquires from Belluno Bim Gestione Servizi Pubblici, for a consideration of 21 million euro, 11% of Ascotrade, a company active in the sale of gas and electricity, thus coming to control 100% of the share capital.
