Company Description

Exor NV is a Dutch financial holding company. It works in the sector of finance holding shares and shares in various companies. The holding is controlled by the Agnelli family through the Giovanni Agnelli B.V which holds 52,99% of the share capital.

As of January 2021, Exor is a shareholder of the following companies:

  • Juventus FC, of which it holds 63,77% of the shares.
  • Ferrari, of which it owns 22,91% of the share capital.
  • Stellantis, of which it holds 14,4% of the share capital.
  • The Economist Group: of which it holds 43,4% of the capital.
  • PartnerRe, a 100% owned insurance company.
  • Industrial Driver's License: 26,89% owned.
  • GEDI Publishing Group, of which it owns 86,40 of the shares.

The head office is in Amsterdam after the move in 2016 but the share is listed in theFTSE MIB index of the Milan Stock Exchange.

It has approximately 268,979 employees.

Economic and financial analysis of the company

Founded in 1927 as Industrial Financial Institute in Turin by Giovanni Agnelli, it was reconstituted in 2009 (after merging with IFIL Investments) under the name of Exor. The initial purpose of the lawyer Agnelli was to reunite under a single company the various shareholdings he acquired, mainly in industrial sectors.
Today the holding remakes investments in global companies, mainly in Europe and America.

THEIFI was listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in 1968. Until 2003, IFI SpA held all the main group investments. After the reorganisation, wanted by Umberto Agnelli, the financial company IFIL SpA changed its name to IFIL Investments and from that moment it took over all the shares of the IFI.

In December 2008 the merger takes place to incorporate Ifil into Ifi. Thus was born Exor SpA The new name comes from the company acquired in 1992.

In 2013 Exor simplified the structure of its capital, formed by a single class of shares (ordinary).

In 2016 the headquarters moved from Italy to Amsterdam through the merger of Exor SpA in Exor Holding N.V, renamed Exor NV. However, the holding's share remains listed on the Italian market.

I major investments of Exor include the Ferrari and Juventus, historic companies of the Agnelli family.
The other major investments of the holding company are:

- The company Industrial Driver's License, a company that deals with the construction of agricultural machinery, industrial vehicles, buses, special vehicles, engines, etc.
– The reinsurance group PartnerRE which provides services to insurance companies, acquired in 2016 in an offer of $140 per share ($6,9 billion total).
– The weekly The Economist,, through the purchase in 2015 of three fifths of the shares of theEconomist Group held by Pearson PLC. With these purchases, Exor, which already held shares in the Economist Group, has reached a stake of 43,40%, for a value of 405 million euros.
– The publishing group GEDI which is the owner of various radios and newspapers including la Repubblica, La Stampa, Il Secolo XIX and the weekly L'Espresso. The transition took place in December 2019.
– The automotive group of stellantis, born from the equal merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Groupe PSA, to create the world's fourth largest automaker by volume and third largest by revenue. The merger became official in July 2020. 

Exor also owns shares of Cameco, Ocado, RWE and Sibanye-Stillwater while on September 2, 2015 Exor sold the entire shareholding of Cushman & Wakefield a DTZ extension for 1,28 billion dollars, generating a capital gain of approximately 722 million dollars net.

Given the growing interest in new technologies, Exor has created Exor Seeds, an investment activity in early and late stage startups, under the guidance of Noam Ohana from 2017.
After four years, Exor Seeds has invested $250 million in 42 companies around the world.

In April 2020, it invests $200 million to acquire 8,87% of the company Via Transportation Inc., specialized in advanced public mobility systems.

In August 2020 through Exor Seeds participated in the funding round launched by cowboys, E-bike startup based in Brussels.

In December 2020 Exor announced an investment of around 80 million euros in the Chinese luxury group Shangxia. Becomes first shareholder together with Hermès International. The goal is to develop a large luxury company in China.

In March 2021 Exor entered the French fashion house as a minority shareholder with 24%. Christian Louboutin through an investment of 541 million euros.

Also in March 2021, he participates as the main investor in the capital increase of Casavo, company that operates in the real estate instant buying sector.
