In the next five years theAnas will invest 842 million of euros for thePalermo-Catania motorway. This was announced today by the president of the company, Gianni Vittorio Armani, during a conference dedicated to Sicilian infrastructure. The objective, the manager specified, is also "to prevent the states of criticality that have occurred in recent years".

In detail, an extraordinary maintenance plan will be implemented by 380 million for bridges and viaducts. Others 288 million euros will be spent on barriers and flooring, while 134 million are earmarked for the upgrading of the tunnels. Finally, the last ones 40 million euros will be used for information on mobility.

The planning includes, among the most important interventions, the restoration of vehicular transit between the junctions of Scillato and Tremonzelli, currently discontinued in both directions due to the landslide which hit some pylons of the Himera viaduct on 10 April, causing the structure to collapse.

In all, this surgery is worth approx 9,4 million euro and is divided into three parts: the adaptation of the road network, the construction of a new access ramp to the motorway (these first two steps will be completed in November) and the demolition of the six spans of the carriageway towards Catania of the Imera Viaduct, damaged from the landslide.
