The new government of Austria turns to the right, indeed to the extreme right. In fact, the Conservatives manage to form a new executive, coming to terms with the ultra-nationalist party which, in exchange for giving up the referendum on the country's exit from the EU, obtains as many as 14 seats, 3 of which are strategic ministries: they go to the Fpoe l 'Home, Foreign Affairs and Defence.
The negotiations between the two political forces ended yesterday with what the chancellor designated Sebastian Kurz, the youngest in the history of the country (he is 31 years old), defined "a turquoise-blue accord". The new government, after the October 15 elections, is therefore ready to be born and actually has more than a shade of black.
The new interior minister will be the 49-year-old Herbert Kickl, currently the secretary general of the Fpoe, the far-right movement's main strategist and campaign leader. In this role he was the author of numerous xenophobic and Islamophobic slogans. Mario Kunasek instead he is the new owner of the Defence. The Foreign Ministry, so far in the hands of Kurz, will instead be led by a woman: Karin Kneissl, The 52-year-old who does not belong to Strache's party, but shares his position on the reception of refugees.
The clampdown on migrants could be the first consequence of the new government: the ultra-right has in fact partially renounced its Eurosceptic positions, but the security and immigration policies, now completely in the hands of the Fpoe, could pay the price.
