Assopopolari, this is how banking cooperation is going in South Korea

With the publication of a essay on Banking Cooperation in South Korea, the in-depth study of an international nature by the National Association of Cooperative Banks continues. This is the third in a series of specific reports on individual Asian countries from which it emerges how these credit institutions have made and continue to make a significant contribution to the development of the real economy and to the support of households and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Cooperative People's Credit Institutions spread throughout South Korea are approximately 1.300 and serve over 20 million customers. To these are added the institutes of the federation of forestry cooperatives with 2 million cooperative members, 80 mutual saving banks, the Nonghyup group which represents 2,4 million members of 1.165 cooperatives and 904 Credit Unions with 5,8 million members. Important numbers in a continent where 155.214 cooperative credit banks operate with 201 million members, funding of 3.519 billion euros and loans of 1.710 billion euros.

Il General Secretary of Assopopolari, Giuseppe De Lucia Lumeno, in presenting the third stage of this in-depth study, explained how “at any latitude the Banking Cooperation, vital and close to the needs of economic development, shows a rooting of such dimensions that it deserves to be investigated in depth. A confirmation of a fundamental role played, in its various forms, in supporting socio-economic development". This study, like the previous ones, is preparatory to a series of international meetings with the representatives of the respective countries.
