The Assembly of the Italian Antitrust Association (AAI) held on 13 July last renewed the steering committee and elected the lawyer Alberto Pera as President.

During the Assembly, the budget and the report for the two-year period 2015/2017 were approved and the new top management was appointed: in addition to President Pera, the lawyers Vito Auricchio, Silvia D'Alberti, Stefano Grassani and Mario Todino. Following the resignation of the lawyer D'Alberti, the committee co-opted as member the lawyer Marco D'Ostuni, the first of the non-elected. The Committee has confirmed the lawyer Francesco Anglani as secretary general.

Alberto Pera, an expert antitrust lawyer, was general secretary of the Competition and Market Authority from 1990 to 2000, and as a consultant to two industry ministers on competition issues, he collaborated in drafting the Italian antitrust law. Previously he was an economist at the International Monetary Fund and Head of Economic Research at IRI.

Pera succeeds Claudio Tesauro who has led the Association in recent years and to whom the heartfelt thanks of the Assembly went for the work done in favor of the growth of the association and of the sector.  

The Italian Antitrust Association brings together more than 30 law firms and economic consultancy firms active in the field of antitrust and EU law. During 2017, some Italian and multinational companies also joined the Association. The AAI was founded in 2008 with the aim of contributing to spreading knowledge of competition law through training and research activities.
