Argentina's Treasury Minister resigns

Argentine Treasury Minister Nicolas Dujovne has resigned from his post and will be replaced by Economy Minister Hernan Lacunza.

Dujovne didn't like the latest moves by President Mauricio Macrì who is desperately trying to get back in the polls in view of the presidential elections at the end of October after the beating suffered in the primaries, sensationally won by the Peronists of Fernandez and Kirchner who sense a return to power.

The Treasury Minister's resignation took place three days after Macrì had announced the temporary increase in the minimum wage, the reduction of payroll taxes and other measures aimed at supporting the workers most affected by galloping inflation and by the increase in unemployment and poverty.

But the Treasury Minister's move is a sign of the political crisis that is affecting the Macrì administration after the electoral meltdown and that will probably push Argentina on the road that leads back to the past, even if Fernandez's pragmatism could curb Kirchner's revanchism .
