In the face of the persistence of higher than normal levels of pollution, the anti-smog measures. In Milan traffic (cars, motorcycles and trucks) will be blocked for three days, from Monday to Wednesday, from 10 to 16. Blockade also foreseen in the neighboring municipalities of the Lombard capital.

In Rome, on the other hand, alternate number plates were chosen. Today, vehicles with odd number plates will not be able to circulate in the time slots between 7.30 and 12.30 and between 16.30 and 20.30. Tomorrow the stop will concern cars and motorcycles with the same license plate.

Will they help or could more be done? The debate is open but certainly the high levels of pollution in cities could not leave public administrations indifferent.

To those who accuse the Government and local bodies of thinking only of buffer measures against pollution, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Graziani Delrio, recalls that the newly approved Stability Law already contains innovative measures against pollution such as those which severely restrict the movement of heavy vehicles.
