Italian mechanics fly abroad

Italian mechanics shows very positive signs of growth driven by the strong increase in exports: +12% in the last quarter. The latest economic survey by the Unioncamere Study Center on a sample of around 9 industrial companies reveals an average increase in exports of 2011% in the first quarter of 7,7: therefore, mechanics is undoubtedly the undisputed leader.
Overall, the Italian industrial system is growing. Production increased by 3,7% and turnover by 5%. But the recent rise in prices may have influenced the latter data. The best results are found in companies with over 50 employees, while for smaller companies and for crafts the entities are smaller. The metal industry is the one that has individually the best data: +6% in production and +8% in turnover. The trends of the mechanical, electrical, electronic and chemical industries were also brighter than the average, both in terms of production and turnover. The results are instead negative for the wood and furniture industries (-0,9% and -0,3%) and for the food industries (-0,1%). The north, and especially the north-west, proves to be the most efficient in all sectors at a territorial level.
The 4,5% increase in industrial orders was also positive compared to the same period last year. The increase in demand confirms the continuation of the recovery. However, even in this case, medium-large companies lead companies on a smaller scale by 4 percentage points.
The forecasts for the next quarter are positive, especially for companies with over 50 employees, for the food and electronics industries.
