Alitalia: profit drops, Colaninno leaves

"After having supported the recapitalization of Alitalia, I announce that, at the end of the operations relating to it, when my resignation will be formalized together with those of the entire Board of Directors, I will not be available to take on top management positions again in the company". The president of the airline, Roberto Colaninno, said so at the end of the board meeting that he approved the accounts. 

In the third quarter, Alitalia collected a net profit of 7 million euros, a marked decrease compared to the 27 million euros of the same period of 2012. The operating result was positive for 36 million, against the +50 recorded in the third quarter of 1.060. Last year. Total revenues stood at $6 million, down XNUMX% year over year. 

The operating result for the 9 months was equal to -162 million (-119). This EBIT includes positive extraordinary components for 39 million euros, a clear decrease compared to those of the previous year which amounted to 89 million. Net of these non-recurring items, the 2013 industrial EBIT amounted to -201 million, an improvement of 7 million compared to the previous year.

As at 30th September, net operating debt was -813 million, against 851 million as at 30th June. Of this item, the portion for debt on the owned aircraft fleet is equal to 575 million.

Revenues from passenger traffic in the 9 months of 2013 decreased slightly (-1,6%) compared to the same period of 2012. An important change in the geographical composition of revenues should be noted: if on the domestic market, following the economic scenario highly recessive national segment, Alitalia recorded a decrease in revenues of 11,1%, in the international segment revenues increased by +3,4% and in the intercontinental segment by 3,9%.

Alitalia's board of directors expressed its appreciation for the performance of the 500 million capital increase. This is what emerges in a note at the end of the council. To date, the subscriptions are those of the shareholders Intesa Sanpaolo (about 26 million euros), Atlantia (about 26 million euros) and Immsi (about 13 million euros). A further 65 million euros have already been paid by Intesa Sanpaolo and Unicredit out of their commitment of 100 million euros.

The board also “acknowledged the interest expressed by Poste Italiane, translated into the commitment, subject to the approval of its decision-making bodies, to subscribe for 75 million euros to cover any unopted shares. Shareholders who have not yet subscribed are carefully and willingly evaluating their participation in the capital increase".
