Alitalia, Giuseppe Leogrande sole commissioner

The extraordinary commissioners of Alitalia, who managed the last bridging loan worth almost one billion euro, are leaving their position and a lawyer has been chosen in their place Joseph Leogrande as sole commissioner. This was communicated by the Minister of Economic Development Stefano Patuanelli, commenting as follows: "I want to thank the three commissioners Daniele Discepolo, Enrico Laghi and Stefano Paleari for the work carried out in a critical situation and for the institutional sensitivity shown in recent months in the management of a complex dossier, which unfortunately did not lead to a definitive market solution for the company. Thanks also go to the new commissioner Giuseppe Leogrande for having accepted the position. Together with him, the State will have to act to allow the definitive relaunch of Alitalia".

In essence, the Government has asked Leogrande to reorganize the fleet of 113 aircraft and above all the personnel, currently made up of 11.000 employees, to then focus on the sale of the assets at a later stage. Leogrande is a Experienced bankruptcy attorney and former director of several Italian groups in crisis. In particular, his experience in the world of civil aviation dates back to the three-year period 2014-2017 when he administered and then led as president, the Roman carrier Blue Panorama. The central figure of the super commissioner will then be joined by "technicians": one capable of handling aeronautical law without difficulty, and another manager ready to manage issues related to safety and Alitalia's ability to keep itself financially standing.
