Green agriculture, young Italians first in Europe

The latest GreenItaly Report rewards our companies – Their turnover is worth 20% of the global turnover

Green agriculture, young Italians first in Europe

Go to the countryside and discover that young Italians love it. They invest, they work hard to produce at zero km. Better and more than their fathers in almost every Region. They work without spreading poison in their fields; they are careful with money and motivated. They are so good that the GreenItaly2018 report places them at the top of Europe. The numbers also support them on the merits, given that 1 out of 4 has a degree and two thirds travel in Italy and abroad. In short, good news for the green economy and our tables.

The Ministry of the Environment has promoted the research together with a plurality of bodies and organizations. In this case he can be satisfied. The Report says, in fact, that Italy has 296 food geographical indications recognized at community level, 37 brands for beverages and 526 for wines. In their industrial progress, young people also defend over 5 agri-food products recognized by the Regions. And that's no small thing, due to the bureaucracy and the chronic slowness of the Governors' offices. Other data in favor of young farmers are those on the incidence of their businesses on the 31,5 billion euro of Italian agriculture business. The balance is now close to 20%.

This year 207 companies have invested in sustainability. A true value that protects producers and consumers. The strength of youth businesses are also the initiatives of Campagna Amica. Two converging commercial segments that cancel the prejudices about the distance of the new generations from the land and from the agricultural world. Campagna Amica means finding 7.500 companies in the squares and local markets ready to sell the best of local produce. A network that has extended to 600 restaurants, 500 Agrichefs and over 200 urban gardens. The Italian business surpasses France (28,8 billion), Spain (26,4 billion) and Germany (17,5 billion). The engine is under 50 and must not stop.
