AdR, Monti signs the Fiumicino revolution: 12,5 billion in investments and 100 million passengers

Monti's go-ahead for the decree implementing the planning agreement between AdR and Enac launches the colossal development plan for Fiumicino which aims to reach 100 million passengers a day with investments that will reach 12,5 billion euros by 2040 – Employment will rise to 3 immediately and 32 over time

The Fiumicino revolution starts. Monti's signing of the decree implementing the program agreement-contract between the AdR and ENAC will allow the unblocking of the revitalization and development plan of the capital's airport, which will transform itself into a true Mediterranean hub.

The investment plan of the Aeroporti di Roma company, of which the Benettons are the controlling shareholders through Gemina, provides for a colossal commitment made possible also by the increase of 8,5 per passenger in airport fares. The company that manages Fiumicino plans to invest 2,5 billion in 10 years and 12 billion by 2044 when the plan is fully operational.

Significant works are planned for the expansion, modernization and extension of the runways for an airport that is destined to become a point of reference for the Mediterranean and Europe.

The effects on employment will also be significant. The plan envisages a direct increase in employment of 3 jobs as early as 2013 and 32 once fully operational, but with even greater effects on all related industries that work for the Airport.

Great satisfaction for Gemina and AdR who feared that the plan would evaporate right up to the end. But Monti's signing, which arrived at the last minute, was decisive.
