Farewell to Judge Imposimato: from the Moro case to the 5 Stars

Ferdinando Imposimato died this morning at the Gemelli hospital in Rome where he had been rushed to the intensive care unit on December 31st. He was born in Maddaloni (Caserta) on 9 April 1936. Magistrate, he was an investigating judge in some of the most important terrorism trials, such as the one for the Moro case and the one for the attempt on the Pope. In 1987 he was elected to the Senate as an independent leftist on the PCI lists, in 1992 he was elected to the Chamber and then in 1994 again to the Senate. In 2013 the Cinquestelle Movement had indicated him, together with other names, for the election as President of the Republic.

“With Ferdinando Imposimato not only an upright magistrate and a great jurist disappear. But he also leaves a splendid person, of great humanity and sensitivity. For the entire M5S these are moments of enormous pain, because Imposimato has represented a bright light, a sure guide on the path we have taken for years in the fight against corruption, malfeasance and the mafia. We express our deepest condolences and closeness to his family members”. This is what we read in a note from the parliamentary group of the 5 Star Movement.
