Abi: credit quality worsens and business demand decreases

In Italy the quality of bank credit continues to deteriorate and businesses are asking for less and less financing. This emerges from the Abi's monthly report.

Based on the latest data processed by Crif (Central Financial Risks), the number of loans requested by businesses fell by more than 3% in March (-1% according to initial estimates in April). The negative trend, according to the report, can be attributed above all to sole proprietorships, with an annual variation of -9%, contrasted by a slight growth in joint-stock companies.
