Abi, Patuelli confirmed as president: the 3rd term is underway

Antonio Patuelli will be the president of Abi also in the two-year period 2018-2020. Confirmation came this morning, with the executive committee of the Italian banking association unanimously approving the proposal to grant Patuelli a third term at the helm of Palazzo Altieri.

The executive committee of ABI "unanimously approved the proposal by Carlo Messina and Luigi Abete to renew Antonio Patuelli as president for the next two years", Camillo Venesio, vice president of ABI, explained to journalists during a break from today's meeting.

The confirmation required the modification of the statute of the Association. The new statute will always provide for two two-year terms, with the possibility of a third, in exceptional cases, for which a qualified quorum of 75% will be required.

The president will continue to implement the work carried out during the previous mandates, with the aim of "completing the Italian reforms that restore competitiveness to Italian banks in Europe without privileges or discrimination", he said.

"I trust and pray that in 2018 healthy Italian banks will not have other extraordinary burdens and that a phase of greater serenity, constructiveness and productivity will open for everyone", added Patuelli, underlining how "the role of healthy banks has been absolutely heavy ”.
