ABI, mortgages: +82,2% between January and July

Variable-rate mortgages represent 49,4% of total new disbursements – In recent months, however, there has been a sharp increase in fixed-rate mortgages, which exceeded 2015% of new disbursements in July 60, while they were less than 20% in the same month last year.

In the first seven months of 2015, 82,2% more home loans were granted than in the same period of 2014. The figure emerges from an analysis by the ABI on a representative sample of 78 banks (representing approximately 80% of the market). 

Variable-rate mortgages represent 49,4% of total new disbursements. In recent months, however, there has been a sharp increase in fixed-rate mortgages, which exceeded 2015% of new disbursements in July 60, while they were less than 20% in the same month last year.

Loans to businesses, on the other hand, showed an increase of 16 percent in the first seven months of the year. New consumer credit transactions recorded an increase of +24,3 per cent.

In July, total outstanding loans to households and businesses presented a variation close to zero (-0,1%) compared to July 2014, the same value as the previous month and better than the -4,5% in November 2013 , when it had reached its negative peak. The July 2015 figure for bank loans to households and businesses is the best result since April 2012.
