In the first six months of 2012 the Acerra waste-to-energy plant treated 290.000 tons of waste. This was reported in a note by A2A, which manages the plant. Thanks to the energy valorisation of waste, 266 Gigawatts of electricity were introduced into the network (equal to the six-monthly energy needs of 200 families), avoiding the consumption of about 50 tons of oil equivalent.
The plant's emissions into the atmosphere continue “to record values well below the limits imposed by the reference regulations – continues the company – as well as the even more stringent ones set by the integrated authorisation”.
Partenope Environment, a company of the A2A group which is entrusted with the management of the plant, expects to repeat the performance of 2012 in 2011 as well, when the waste-to-energy plant achieved full production capacity with the treatment of over 600 thousand tons of waste.
