A2A enters Saxa Grès and pushes the circular economy

A2a has signed an agreement to acquire 27,7% of the capital of Saxa Gres, an entrepreneurial group based in Anagni (Frosinone) born in 2015 to "introduce the principles of the circular economy in the ceramic production sector".

This was stated in an A2A press release which recalls that Saxa Gres is the first Circular Factory to create urban paving with an "end of waste" process that allows the recovery of materials from the waste cycle, such as for example the ashes produced by waste-to-energy plants , and their reuse for the creation of a new product.

"This agreement is a further step forward in our growth path in the environmental sector and an important development opportunity in the management of the entire waste cycle", underlines the CEO of A2a, Renato Mazzoncini. Completion of the purchase, subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions precedent, is expected by the end of the first quarter of 2021.

That of Saxa Gres is a beautiful industrial history, which started – as often happens – from a near bankruptcy of the Marazzi Sud factory and then passed through a courageous relaunch which, about two years ago, marked the turning point. Today the cycle, driven by the intuition of the circular economy, is decidedly one of growth.
