730 pre-compiled 2020: deadline, rules, news

From 5 May, 30 million Italians can access their 730 pre-compiled 2020 from the Revenue Agency website - This year there is much more time to complete the procedure, but beware of refunds

The 730 pre-compiled 2020 has a different deadline than in previous years, but this is not the only change to keep in mind.

Let's start with the current situation: as expected by Cura Italia decree, starting from Tuesday 5 May, 30 million Italian taxpayers can access their pre-filled tax return from the Revenue Agency website. However, you have much more time to send the model back to the tax authorities than in the past.

730 PREFILLED 2020: FINAL DEADLINE FOR SENDING

The administration has radically changed the fiscal calendar compared to 2019, postponing the date by which taxpayers must submit the return by months.

The main novelty is therefore this: the final deadline for submitting the 730 pre-compiled 2020 (but also the ordinary one) passes from 23 July to 30 September, i.e. the same date set for the income model.

730 PREFILLED 2020: HOW TO SUBMIT IT

The new term applies to everyone, regardless of the method of presentation of the 730 pre-compiled 2020. From this point of view, there are three possibilities to choose from:

  • autonomous submission via web procedure by the taxpayer (who will be able to modify the model or accept it as it is starting from 14 May);
  • sending through an authorized intermediary (Caf-employees, accountants or labor consultants, who this year can also receive the proxy remotely, via email or cloud);
  • sending through the withholding agent (i.e. the employer) who has declared to provide direct tax assistance.

730 PREFILLED 2020: INTERMEDIATE DEADLINES

But be careful: withholding agents and intermediaries will in turn have to respect a schedule in the presentation of the models. There are five deadlines:

  • 15 June for returns received by the taxpayer by 31 May;
  • 29 June for those received from 20st to XNUMXth June;
  • 23 July for those received from 21 June to 15 July;
  • 15 September for those received from 16 July to 31 August;
  • 30th September for those received between 30st and XNUMXth September.

TAX REFUNDS 2020 SLIP

Knowing these dates is important because they determine the month in which taxpayers will receive any tax credit refunds. On this front, however, there is a margin of uncertainty.

To collect the sums with the usual timing (June or July) it is necessary that the pre-compiled 730 2020 arrives at the Revenue Agency by May. Based on the calendar we have seen, we cannot be sure that this will happen if we rely on the withholding agent or an intermediary. Consequently, the only way to be sure of closing the file by May is to do it yourself.

Obviously, those who move in September - regardless of the method of presenting the model - will not receive tax refunds before October-November.
