Tim activates 5G in Florence, making the first services available for families and businesses. In the Tuscan capital, the first areas where it is possible to take advantage of the new technology have already been covered: starting from the northern area of the city with the districts of Refrain e novoli, to continue progressively with Soffiano, Cintoia, Cavallaccio, Statuto, Coverciano, The Cure and Badia a Ripoli, where 5G will be active within the year. In 2020, with the arrival of new authorizations, other important areas of the municipal territory and the metropolitan area of Florence will be affected by the coverage plans.
Florence, Together with Rome, Turin and Naples, is among the first Italian cities where TIM has already launched 5G. The plans expect to get to cover within this year 9 city (they will follow Milan, Bologna, Verona, Matera and Bari), 30 tourist destinations, 50 industrial districts and 30 specific projects for large companies, with speeds up to 2 Gigabits per second.
Within the 2021 they will be covered 120 cities, 200 tourist destinations, 245 industrial districts as well as 200 specific projects for large companies, enhancing the speed that will progressively increase up to 10 Gbps. Many municipalities will be able to benefit from 5G, also making use of super-fast connections thanks to the FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) solution.
To make the new generation network usable immediately, Tim has signed partnerships with some smartphone manufacturers: customers can buy the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the Xiaomi Mix3 5G or the Oppo Reno 5G in TIM stores.
For families, there are two 5G offers with speeds of up to 2 Gbps: TIM Advance 5G, proposed starting from 29,99 Euros/month with 50 GB, unlimited calls and SMS, HD and Ultra HD video and starting from 49,99 Euros/month; TIM Advance 5G Top with 100 GB, unlimited calls and SMS, HD and Ultra HD video and roaming also included from the United States, Canada, Switzerland and the Principality of Monaco.
For business customers TIM offers the offer Without Limits 5G starting from 60 Euros/month for new customers and includes unlimited minutes and SMS, 100 GB, unlimited emails and chats, international roaming with unlimited calls and SMS as well as 5GB in 16 non-EU destinations.
