10 years of Bitcoin told by the new Unicusano infographic

2017 was the year of the definitive consecration of electronic currencies: not only Bitcoin but also Ethereum, Litecoin e Ripple have experienced an explosion in their unit value that has attracted a great deal of attention from investors and the media to the world of cryptocurrencies.

The Faculty of Economics of theNiccolo Cusano Telematic University has collected data, graphs and curiosities about the first ten years of the history of Bitcoin in one new infographic which, without pretensions to completeness, photographs a phenomenon of great interest to the world of finance and beyond.

The infographic deals point by point with the most important stages in the history of Bitcoin, from its conception by the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto to the global success of Chinese "mining-farms" and the Blockchain. Ten years of history and ten (plus one) curiosity, to learn more how cryptocurrencies work and what their potential is. The final part of the infographic offers an overview of the main electronic currencies and highlights their peculiar characteristics as well as the great expansion phase of the last few months and the unexpected and violent collapse of January.

The fate of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is not yet clear and for many the line between financial speculation and solid investment is very blurred due to the extreme volatility that characterizes electronic currencies. However, it is evident from the data that emerged that the digitization process that have lived our lives in recent decades will also have its effects in the monetary world, and the example of Bitcoin is just the tip of an iceberg of unknown proportions.
