Usa, auto sales: for Ford best June since 2006, for GM best month since 2008

Ford reported sales up 13% year-over-year to 235.643 units, versus 207.759 in the same period last year – GM's registrations also beat expectations: June's 264.843 hit equals an increase by 6% on an annual basis.

Good news for the US on the automotive front. In the US market, last month was the best June since 2006 for Ford and the best month ever since September 2008 for General Motors.

Ford reported sales up 13% year-on-year to 235.643 units, up from 207.759 in the same period last year. The figure is better than the estimates (still at +12%), but is 4,4% lower than in May, when 246.585 vehicles were registered.

In detail, car sales increased by 12% to 82.311 units, those of utilities by 7,5% to 67.885 units and those of vans by 19,9% ​​to 85.447 units. Smaller cars such as the Fiesta, Focus and C-MAX saw sales up 39% to 35.851 units. In this case, it's the best June in 13 years.

Even the registrations of GM they beat expectations: the 264.843 share reached in June is equal to an increase of 6% on an annual basis. Compared to the 252.894 vehicles sold in May, this was an increase of 4,7%. Chevrolet brand sales increased 7,4%, GMC sales increased 4,5% and Cadillac sales increased 14,9%. On the other hand, registrations of Buicks decreased (-4,1%). Retail sales recorded a 14% growth.
