The European Union has announced that it has reached an agreement on the package of economic sanctions to be imposed on Russia in relation to the Ukrainian crisis. The agreement blocks access to EU financial markets, prohibits the sale of weapons, sensitive technologies in the energy sectors and dual-use goods (both civilian and military).
Furthermore, the European Union will freeze the assets of four oligarchs close to Putin accused of actively supporting the destabilization of eastern Ukraine for their own benefit. Three companies were also fined.
