Terna: agreement with the Defense on energy security

Terna has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defense aimed at promoting the study on energy security.

“The collaboration – explains the company in a note – stems from the need to accompany the energy transition underway which will make it necessary to adapt the national electricity distribution and transmission networks and the use of renewable energy sources. The main purpose is to improve the resilience of the national electricity transmission system also through the creation of electricity exchange centers such as smart cities".

Going into details, the partnership involves the development and testing of prototypes of Smart Military District, intelligent energy districts in which energy efficiency coexists with eco-sustainable sources, the use of self-consumption and the management of energy flows in real time "in a certain framework of security, in view of the consolidated paradigm of the energy security-cyber combination security”, explains the company.

The agreement will also make it possible to implement pilot projects aimed at improving national energy security and military sites.

Il Undersecretary Tofalo, signatory of the agreement, highlighted that “the energy sector assumes an ever more central role for the economic development of the country, for the implementation of a model of sustainable growth and for the security of the country system. In this context, the virtuous approach of Defense can and must be an example for the other sectors of the Public Administration in the context of the 'national security strategy'".

“Today's agreement is an important step for Terna and for the national system in terms of energy security – he declared Luigi Ferraris, Chief Executive Officer of Terna – as an enabling factor for national security. It is the first stage of an increasingly close collaboration between Institutions and Strategic Companies for the creation of a "Sustainable Security" model.
