Spain, unemployment is rising again

In a phase already marked by strong political uncertainty (we will return to the polls in June), unemployment has started to rise again - albeit slightly - for the first time after a whole year of positive trends in the labor market.

Bad news from the Spanish economy. In a phase already marked by strong political uncertainty (we will return to the polls in June), the unemployment it started to rise again - albeit slightly - for the first time after a whole year of positive trends in the labor market: in the first quarter the rate rose to 21%, from 20,9 in the previous three months.

The National Institute of Statistics Ine has communicated that the number of unemployed it increased by 11.900 units between January and March to bring the total to 4,8 million.

In the latest survey, at the end of 2015, the figure had dropped to its lowest since 2011. Nothing alarming, however, according to the Financial Times, who explains that the winter is traditionally the weakest period for the labor market: "The total number of employed workers fell by 64.400 units to 18.03 million, still two million more than the all-time low reached during the recession".
