What the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, he pronounced on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the assassination of Aldo Moro from the Red Brigades and became the Day of Remembrance for victims of terrorism of all stripes. In particular, there are two points of the Head of State's speech that have impressed with their lucidity and moral intransigence. The first was the reference to the “appeasement” expressed by the gesture of President Sandro Pertini who in 1983 wanted to visit the activist of the Youth Front, Paolo Di Nella, in the hospital, who was shot while he was sticking up posters and who still retains its value because "democracy feeds on tolerance, patience, confrontation and respect".
But no less strong was the call to dig and seek the “truth, the full truth, about graves deviations of elements of the State” on the occasion of the bloody massacres carried out in our country in the 70s and 80s. Thus speaks a master of democracy and a President of the Republic which not by chance has entered the hearts of Italians.
