Il FS Group has prepared an extraordinary plan of Strengthening transport services to Rome following the disappearance of the Holy Father, from today until Sunday 27 April, in collaboration with the Department of Civil Protection which coordinates the emergency and logistical interventions necessary to welcome the faithful.
Trenitalia has strengthened its own offering: the Arrows e Intercity will offer an average of around 110 thousand places per day; while Regional will provide more connections to the Roma San Pietro station from Roma Termini, Ostiense, Tiburtina, Tuscolana and Fiera di Roma, for a total of 150 thousand seats per day in the Rome Node. Additional charter trains are also planned for pilgrims.
In all Trenitalia offices it has foreseen 300 more people, to ensure greater assistance to passengers and prompt intervention in case of need.
Furthermore, those travelling with Frecce and Intercity to and from the Capital – both individually and in groups – from today until 27 April will be able to take advantage of a 40% discount on the base price using the code “ROME” when purchasing the ticket.
Through Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, FS will set up extraordinary presences in the stations of Roma Termini, Roma Tiburtina, Roma S. Pietro, Valle Aurelia, Roma Aurelia, Fiumicino Aeroporto, Roma Ostiense, Civitavecchia and Fiera di Roma. The aim is to enhance some services such as maintenance, station cleaning and monitoring of traveler flows, with an increase of approximately 500 people employed.
Il free Blue Room service, dedicated to assisting people with reduced mobility, will be strengthened in all the main stations to offer even more effective and timely support to passengers who need it.
Finally, too FS Security – the FS Group company entirely dedicated to ensuring the safety of trains, stations, employees and travellers – is strengthening its presence with over 100 resources in the Roman stations, also with 24-hour surveillance.
