Open Meter, the smart and green meter exceeds 22 million installations completed

OpenMeter is the meter that will take the place of the first generation electronic meters installed in our homes starting from 2001, whose replacement – for customers connected to the E-Distribution network – will end by 2024. Entirely designed in Italy and characterized by an innovative design, the new electricity meter is able to combine quality of service with technological innovation. To ensure consumers high performance standards and new functions, receive near real-time information on electricity consumption and, consequently, schedule its withdrawal with a view to savings and convenience.

La sustainability is an integral part of the meter itself and of the green choices, such as the packaging made up of over 99,5% cardboard, the recycling of over 93% of the materials from the replaced contactors and the new project for the construction of meters with plastics regenerated (over 4.000 meters already installed). There telemanagement it also allows most of the technical and commercial operations to be performed remotely, allowing customers to receive the services requested in a very short time and at the same time avoiding the movement of the teams, reducing their interventions to a minimum and reducing the values of emissions produced.

In addition to the ecological aspect ofThe circular economy, Open Meter introduces an advantage for the entire electrical system. Thanks to an increased memory capacity, the customer has increasingly punctual measurement data of the energy consumed or produced, which - in turn - offer the possibility of better understanding their consumption habits. One of the big news of the new counter is the adoption of a communication channel dedicated to the customer with a communication protocol open and public: this channel also known as "chain 2”, allows the development and diffusion of market devices dedicated to services energy management e home automation, which can favor an agile and rational management of domestic loads and generation plants from renewable sources. At the same time, Open Meter allows advanced management of quality of service parameters, acting as a real advanced sensor, allowing electrical parameters to be monitored for each individual customer. All with a view to increasingly "smart" functioning of the distribution network with the aim of making theexercisability of the whole system.

The diffusion of Open Meters also represents a fundamental element in the projects of Smart City. With Smart Grids – intelligent networks – of which the meter is the beating heart.

It is important to note that the intervention for the replacement of the counter is completely free. No compensation will be due to the personnel involved in the operation. The replacement does not require any modification to the existing electricity supply contract or the stipulation of a new contract.

Customers will be able to verify the identity of the operator replacement operator through a PIN code that will be automatically generated by an App installed on the smartphone supplied to the operator. The verification of the PIN code generated by the operator can be done through the toll-free number 803.500, on the e-distribuzione.it portal or through the E-Distribuzione App.

The replacement of the meter will be communicated with 5 days in advance through specific billboards at the entrance of the houses, buildings, commercial or industrial establishments concerned, with indication of the date and the foreseen time slot. The customer connected to the E-Distribuzione network can consult the reserved area of the E-Distribuzione website, which allows you to view (in the section dedicated to the new meter) the planning of the replacement activity relating to the unique code POD (Poin Of Delivery) associated with the user and to check if the POD is included in the replacement plan over the following three months. If the selected POD is included in the quarterly planning, the month in which the intervention is scheduled and the references of the company responsible for carrying out the activities are displayed.
