The meeting of the representatives of the European Alliance which brings together the operators was held today, June 28, in Rome wholesale only and open access who are developing the new Fiber To The Home (FTTH) networks in their respective countries.

For Italy, Open Fiber participated, while the other countries are represented by CityFibre (United Kingdom), Deutsche Glasfaser (Germany), Gagnaveita Reykjavíkur (Iceland) and Siro (Ireland).

As part of today's meeting, the alliance announced the entry of a new member: the French operator Covage. The company's CEO, Pascal Rialland, said: "We strongly believe in the importance of sharing best practices to accelerate the development and penetration of FTTH networks in our respective countries."

“The members of the Alliance – explains Open Fiber in a note – discussed how to increase efforts to ensure ultra-fast and future-proof connectivity for citizens and businesses, by sharing best practices and planning initiatives in view of the inauguration of the new heads of the European institutions"

The companies involved have identified some priorities, including the definition of more ambitious connectivity objectives at European level, the fight against advertisements promoting "false fibre" and the anti-competitive behavior of incumbents, the definition of clear and transparent processes for the copper switch-off and customer migration.
