An important novelty for the city of Cerveteri, on the Lazio coast, where Open Fiber's "1 Giga Italy Plan" has begun, financed through the funds of the Pnrr (National Recovery and Resilience Plan). This ambitious intervention foresees the creation of an FTTH fiber optic network (Fiber To The Home) which will cover 3663 street numbers distributed throughout the Cerveteri area.
An ambitious digitization project
The project envisages that the works will initially focus on the first 1.668 civics within the historic center of Cerveteri, to then extend to Cerenova and Marina di Cerveteri. This fiber optic connectivity, provided by Open Fiber, will allow transmission speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second, making fast and reliable internet access possible for all citizens.

A step towards eco-sustainability
In addition to offering high performance, FTTH technology is also of fundamental importance from the point of view of eco-sustainability. In fact, fiber optic cables they consume less energy than traditional solutions, thus helping to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and heat into the atmosphere, promoting a more sustainable connectivity for the environment.
The construction of the fiber optic network in Cerveteri will be carried out with the reuse of the already existing infrastructures, minimizing the impact and possible inconvenience for the community. Open Fiber, as in all construction sites throughout Italy, will adopt innovative ea methodologies low environmental impact during excavations, thus contributing to environmental protection.
Open Fiber obtained a total of 8 lots of the "1 Giga Italy Plan", a digitization project coordinated by the Department for Digital Transformation and managed by Infratel Italia, which it involves 3.881 municipalities in 9 regions: Puglia, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Lombardy, Sicily, Tuscany and Veneto.
