World Cup: Fifa opens an investigation, Suarez risks a 24-match ban

The bite of Giorgio Chiellini could cost the Uruguayan and Liverpool forward dearly: his World Cup is almost certainly over, but there is even talk of a 24-match or two-year disqualification: the maximum penalty, given the recidivism.

World Cup: Fifa opens an investigation, Suarez risks a 24-match ban

The day after the elimination, the heartbroken soul of the Italian fan could take a little tonic, a balm to soothe his pain: Luis Suarez's World Cup is in serious danger of being over, but for the biting Celeste striker, the troubles seem to be just getting started.

Fifa has already opened an investigation, and could not have done otherwise. What has escaped the referee Rodriguez has not in fact escaped the thousand eyes of the cameras focused on the Natal stadium, nor the millions of viewers at home.

Suarez struck again, for the third time, sinking his teeth into Giorgio Chiellini's shoulder. Then, being interviewed, he pretended not to notice, while his teammates blocked and so did Tabarez, who perhaps already knew that, from now on, he will have to do without his best man.

The gesture is horrible, so unprecedented in the world of football (apart from Suarez) that it is difficult to define. The Liverpool forward is then a repeat offender (he had already fallen for it both with the Ajax and Reds shirts), not a small detail, which will make his sentence skyrocket. The maximum penalty is 24 matches or a two-year ban, and it seems we are heading in that direction.

The broken soul will read, and take its tonic. Then he will look around and see rubble and resignation, the present end of a team with no future. Nonetheless, we have other problems.
