Fashion: the Calzedonia group changes its name to Oniverse and takes first place among the successfully quotable

Rebranding time for the Group Calzedonia, but perhaps also a stock market listing.
Calzedonia will now be called Oniverse. He announced it Matteo Veronesi, board member of the Veneto group during the 18th edition of the Pambianco Award LeQuotabili23.

Precisely on the same occasion the manager withdrew, for the second consecutive year, the LeQuotabili first prize the recognition assigned annually by the consultancy firm Pambianco to Italian companies in the Fashion, Beauty, Design and Wine sectors that possess the economic, financial and positioning characteristics to be listed on the stock exchange most successfully in a time horizon ranging from three to five years.
“We are now a group of very different brands, we include fashion, luxury, underwear, costumes, boats, wine; and so we decided that we will change the name of the group to OniverseHe said veronesi. “It kind of represents a universe, like the constellation of our various brands, but it also means 'going towards something', a direction. Oniverse is also the anagram of the surname Veronesi,” explained the manager.

The path from Calzedonia to Oniverse: from socks, to wine, to yachts

The Calzedonia Group is started in the 80s with the brand of the same name specialized in the socks and beachwear sectors. Then in 1996 they were added Intimissimi in the lingerie and underwear market and in 2003 tezenis, founded in 2003 with underwear and homewear lines, in 2009 falconeri, cashmere knitwear brand. In 2014 it was created Intimissimi Man, in the 2015 Atelier Eme, a brand of wedding and formal dresses and just last year it entered the Antonio Marras group, a more exclusive and creative brand.

Until now Veronesi has remained in the clothing sector. But already in 2012 the group had begun to differentiate itself with the wine store chain signorvino and this year with the Pardo construction site, Italian excellence in the production of premium sailing and motor yachts. Now in total it employs over 44.000 people worldwide. What do cashmere, wine and boating have in common? Fabio Planamente, CEO of Cantieri Del Pardo, has no doubts: it is Italian excellence, as he explains in the interview a few days after joining the group.

“We are a fairly large company in Italy that is trying to become a European reality and would like to become a global reality. With our main brands we are growing mainly in foreign markets and we are expanding the portfolio by also investing in the world of wine and boating, we are diversifying our offer", he specified veronesi, as reported by Panbianconews.
The Calzedonia Group sells its products in more than 5.000 single-brand stores in 56 countries. In the 2022 turnover the player exceeded 3 billion euros with an increase of 21,6% at current exchange rates (+20,2% at constant exchange rates) compared to 2,5 billion in 2021. Matteo Veronesi specified that the Calzedonia Group it is made up of 90% women and 80% under 30s.

In the LeQuotabili23 ranking, a champion with 20 billion in turnover (+23%) and an ebitda of 4,3 billion

In the 2023 edition of the LeQuotabili award, the analysis involved, in addition to the traditional sectors already present in previous editions, Fashion, Beauty, Design and Wine, for the first time also the Hotel sector, thus touching on a sample which last year totaled 20 billion euros in turnover (+23%) and an ebitda of 4,3 billion.

Le Quotabili 2023 has defined a ranking of 20 companies for Fashion, 10 for Design and 5 each for Beauty, Wine and Hotellerie, in addition to the "small cap" podium for the first four sectors. On the podium, below the first place occupied by Calzedonia, for the Fashion category there are Giorgio Armani e Golden goose (sneakers and clothing). The small cap recognition for the sector instead went to Phoenician, the company that owns the brand Very shirtless.

For beauty, the top 3 identified by the analysis sees, in order, Euroitalia – a company that boasts brands of the caliber of Versace, Moschino, Missoni, Dsquared2, Michael Kors and Brunello Cucinelli in its licensing portfolio, as well as its own brands Reporter, Naj-Oleari Beauty and Atkinsons 1799 –, Davines and Alfaparf Group. The small cap of beauty is The good Vibes Company, owner of the Goovi brand.

La Design category was won by Design Holding (B&B Italia, Flos, Louis Poulsen, Arclinea, Maxalto, Azucena, FENDI Casa, Audo and Lumens) with Edra in second place and Minotti in third. Like last year, the small cap award was awarded to Talenti.

For Wine, the company won the first position in the Quotabili 2023 Marchesi de Frescobaldi, followed in second place by Palazzo Antinori and in third place by Santa Margherita Gruppo Vinicolo.

Finally, the first prize Le Quotabili for the hotel industry he went to Egniathia, owner of the Apulian location Borgo Egnazia; Sardegna Resorts and Starhotels Finanziaria were also on the podium.
