The goal is clear: relaunch the Lancia brand not only in Italy but also in Europe. There new Lancia Ypsilon it represents much more than a simple update of an existing model. It is the symbol of one rebirth for one of the most historic brands of Italian motoring. “Lancia was about to disappear, it was clear that there was no product plan, no vision for the future, no planned investments to relaunch the brand – explains the CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares – “it was not respectful of the history and value of a fantastic Italian brand. We couldn't let that happen. Today Lancia has a new future."
The relaunch strategy of the Lancia brand passes through the debut of the new Ypsilon, available in three versions: the 100% electric version, hybrid model , sports HF (“High Fidelity”). The latter will also be the version that will accompany future models coming out, such as the Gamma in 2026 and the Delta in 2028, in Integral mode. And then there is also the romantic return to the world of rallying, without forgetting the version made with Cassina, Italian excellence in high-end furniture that contributes to the positioning of the brand in the premium market. Lancia Ypsilon HF: the 240 hp full electric sports car
The HF version is the latest version presented and represents the sportiest soul of the new Ypsilon. Equipped with a 240 HP fully electric motor, the same as the Abarth 600e, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. The 51 kWh batteries could guarantee a range of up to 403 km while the drive will be front, based on the Perfo-eCMP platform, in order to offer a more engaging driving experience.
The Ypsilon HF, wider and lower than the standard versions, embodies the return of the "Lancia Corse HF“, a historic acronym in the world of competitions. The “HF will be the most brutal and radical soul of the range” explained the CEO of the Lancia brand, Luke Napolitano. Debut expected in 2025.
Lancia's return to rallies
And with the HF model, Lancia, with a history full of successes in rallies (15 victories), is preparing to return to competitions and to reaffirm its sporting and innovative identity.

The return to rallying is marked by Ypsilon Rally 4 HF, equipped with a 1,2 liter turbo engine with 212 HP, front-wheel drive and 5-speed manual gearbox. The car aims to be a protagonist in the Rally 4 category and its debut is scheduled for 2025. It also returns historic little elephant which characterized the Lancia racing team, founded in 1963 by Cesare Fiorio. The emblem featured the letters HF in white on a black background, with four red elephants and the words “Squadra Corse” in white on a red background. The new logo, unveiled in March, reinterprets the original one with simplified lines and shapes, maintaining the symbols of Lancia tradition and adding a touch of modernity, innovation, premiumness and Italian character.
New Lancia Ypsilon: hybrid or electric?
La new electric Lancia Ypsilon it is equipped with a 156 horsepower (115 kW) engine and a 51 kWh battery which guaranteesrange up to 403 km in the WLTP combined cycle, which can reach over 500 km in an urban environment. There quick charging allows you to go from 20% to 80% in just 24 minutes.
La hybrid version of the Ypsilon is powered by a turbo petrol engine three-cylinder 1.2-liter engine which, combined with a 48V electrical system, delivers 100 HP. This configuration allows you to achieve a maximum speed of 190 km / h with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds.
The new Ypsilon stands out for a innovative design which mixes historical and modern elements. The car offers generous dimensions (4,08 m long, 1,76 m wide and 1,44 m high) and a 352-litre boot. The black front band with Lancia writing, the round full LED headlights inspired by the Stratos and the 17-inch alloy wheels give the car a distinctive look. The interior of the new Ypsilon are equally innovative. The dashboard is dominated by two 10.25-inch screens, which manage both driving information and infotainment. The most obvious feature is a central table designed by Cassina, which includes wireless charging for your smartphone. The blue velvet seats with “Cannelloni” texture recall Lancia's classic design.
The new Ypsilon is equipped with a advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) is a virtual assistant based on ChatGPT, Called ROOM (Sound Air Light Augmentation). This system allows you to change the car's environment with a simple touch and provides useful information such as weather and traffic.

La Ypsilon 2024 is available in three trim levels: Ypsilon, Ypsilon LX and Ypsilon Cassina. Prices start from 24.900 euros for the hybrid version and from 34.900 euros for the electric one. With them government incentives, for the scrapping of vehicles up to Euro 2, the prices fall respectively to 20.900 euros for the hybrid and 22.900 euros for the electric.
