Donald Trump backtracks on backtracking and returns to throwing openings towards North Korea. Trump had canceled the summit only yesterday, May 24, writing directly to the North Korean leader: “We appreciate your time, patience and effort in the recent negotiations related to the summit, scheduled for June 12. We have been informed that the meeting has been requested by North Korea, but this is irrelevant to us. Sadly, based on the open hostility shown in recent statements, I feel it is inappropriate at this time to hold the meeting."
The half-opening comes after Pyongyang had reaffirmed its willingness to cooperate with Washington on nuclear power. Indeed, Donald Trump has defined the note released by North Korea regarding the nuclear negotiations as "excellent news". "Excellent news to receive the warm and productive note from North Korea," the tycoon wrote earlier on Twitter. “We will soon see where it leads, hopefully towards prosperity and peace. Only time will tell!"
