According to the preliminary estimate by Istat, in October inflation showed a zero change compared to September, while on an annual basis it marks a growth of 2,6% against the +3,2% of last month. The inflation acquired for 2012 remains, however, at 3,0%.
Most product types are involved in the slowdown in price growth on an annual basis. Core inflation, net of energy goods and fresh food, fell from 1,9% in September to 1,5%, while net of energy goods alone it fell from 2% to 1,6%.
Il Year-on-year growth rate of goods prices fell to 3,3% from 4,1% in September, just as the price of services decreased, from 1,9% to 1,7%, with the consequent reduction, by 0,6%, of the inflationary differential between goods and services, compared to the previous month.
The growth rate on an annual basis of the most frequently purchased products went from 4,7% in September to 4%, remaining unchanged on a monthly basis. L'HICP (harmonised index of consumer prices) increased by 0,3% on a monthly basis and by 2,8% compared to October 2011, a minor acceleration of 0,6% compared to that which occurred in September, of 3,4%.
